A Typical Session
Although I sometimes
do outcall, 90% of my clients come to me. This is what you may experience
in a typical session:
You drive up to
my office which is zoned to be in my residence. You park in front of
a rose colored adobe home framed by 2 junipers and a towering blue spruce
in the back. I meet you at the door, and welcome you in. As you walk
in the door you enter a peaceful sage colored office space tastefully
decorated with forest green carpet, paintings, a small fountain, a u-shaped
desk. After you sit down at the desk you fill out a short 2 paged information
sheet listing name, address, Insurance--if applicable, Doctor, previous
accidents/ injuries/surgeries /conditions, and the current problem or
reason for this visit.
I then may ask
a few questions to be clear about your condition and reason for being
here. I explain alittle about how I work and my different modalties:
That this work is deeply relaxing and very effective even though gentle.
It is like taking a knot out of a shoelace by creating more
space--- not by stretching, digging or pulling. Once the tensions and
immobilities have been removed then Swedish massage can effortlessly
slide and glide over your body. I will be asking you questions of comfort,
awareness and preference from time to time. You and I will be working
as a team in and with comfort, not pain. We will work for an hour to
an hour and a half.
We can either work
on a massage table through clothes or you may disrobe and you will be
covered with a sheet. If you are in a lot of pain we will work through
clothes. If not, it is your choice as to what clothes to take off to
ensure your own comfort.
Then you have your
choice of one of two rooms. Both are light, and peaceful with plants
and windows and a skylight. One is much larger as it also serves as
a classroom for 10 to 12 people.
After the session
is over you may lie there for some time to savor and integrate your
relaxation and healing. A glass of filtered water is available for you
to drink. Then we go back to the office space and desk to make another
appointment or answer questions. I often suggest you take it easy for
a few hours and drink lots of water.
I also tell you
that it may be a couple of days until all of the pain or discomfort
is gone (sometimes it can even increase before it releases) but feel
free to call me with any questions. Depending upon your condition 1-3
sessions or more may be necessary. Often I will give you self care tech-niques
you can do at home to further hasten your recovery.
